Many citizens, Officials and Government members have accused those campaigning for the safety of companion animals to be waging a campaign of Western
Imperialism, of course these accusations are ridiculous to say the least.
Those involved in the campaigns are from all over the Globe, not just the Western
World. Those using the Imperialism line are merely using this as an
excuse to cloud the issue and gather the support of those people who are uninformed
of the truth of the situation. Individuals can rally a large amount
of people against the campaigns by claiming that Westerners are trying to change
their way of life and forcing them to live as they do. People tend to
get their back up and dig their heels in when they believe they are being told
that they must exist in a certain way, it's this behavior that those against our
campaigns are trying to encourage. The fact is that concern about the welfare
of animals is a concern of all good and decent people therefore, it exists
in all countries of the World where goodness and decency exists in some form.
An amount of decent people exist in ALL Nations, no matter how their Government
behaves and even if sometimes we feel we can't see them so well.
Often decent people are overwhelmed in a Nation by the number of indecent individuals
and groups we see, whether it be on the television, we read about in papers
or see on the street. Before you suddenly come to the conclusion that
this must be a campaign of Western Imperialism, remember our supporters are from
all walks of life, from all over the World, rich, poor, old, young, religious
and non-religious, we are everyone, everwhere...decent, good people united in
one goal, to see animals protected, spared a life of pain and suffering and for
them to find a place of respect in the World. We do not wish to change
the culture and way of life of any society, however, we do want to change the
place animals have taken in many of those societies because no individual or group
of people has a right to abuse, neglect or kill unnecessarily any living being.
We once again say that culture is NOT and NEVER will be an excuse to
inflict pain and suffering on any living being. All beings have a right
to live their lives free from the obstruction and destruction of man. Mankinds
ultimate responsibility is to protect NOT to kill. Human beings are the only species on Earth with the power to protect all the species
